The French Defense Ministry said in a statement that a French soldier, Nicolas Latourt, was injured while on duty to train Iraqi security forces. He was taken to hospital in Erbil by helicopter and died.

In a letter dated Monday July 10, 2023, a copy of which was seen by KurdSat is signed by the head of the office of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) sent to the Iraqi Independent High Election Commission (IHEC), and the letter reads that the KRG has asked the commission to show its readiness to supervise the Kurdistan parliamentary elections.
