The remarks follow Iran's unprecedently increased bombing of the Kurdistan region that has left tens dead and displaced hundreds of families.
In a press conference, the Iraqi Premier said they agreed to reactivate the Joint Economic Committee between Iraq and Iran.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia Sudani has arrived in Tehran for talks with Iranian President Ebrahim al-Raisi.
Raisi said, "Tehran and Baghdad share historical ties based on trust and Iraq's position is important for regional stability," he said.
The Iraqi prime minister also met with Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to discuss common issues between the two countries; Iran's leader said they took al-Sudani comments seriously and would work to solve the joint problems.
Iraqi Premier has begun a regional tour mainly to solve problems that influence the country's domestic politics, such as money laundering and groups that operate within Iraq against neighboring countries.
Al-Sudani is the first post-Baathist Iraqi prime minister without dual citizenship and has spent all his life in Iraq. He doesn't speak Persian and is relatively less known to Iranian leaders, as he knows much less about them.
